Each Blitz team will have it's own Academy where players will progress steadily throughout the season without Managers having to take any actions. The Academy will consist of players aged 19 or less, but once they reach the age of 20 they must be moved to one of the affiliated teams or released.
Players may be moved from Blitz or Shotgun teams into the Academy at any time, as long as they are aged 21 or younger, but once moved into the Academy, they will not be able to be withdrawn until the middle week of the season (to be determined) or at the end of the season. During their time in the Academy they can be 'invested' on (see below).
A Manager can simply allow the Academy group to develop on it's own, or they may wish to be more involved.
Scouting for Academy Players
Your Domestic Scout may be used to scout Colleges and Universities to find additional players for your Academy. These players will usually be available at low prices, but if signed, they will automatically be placed in your Academy for further development, as they are still Academy age and not yet full professionals.
Creating Academy Players
Academy players may be created using BlitzCoin (see finances for further details of BlitzCoin). Please refer to the Academy link of the 'Leagues' pages of the website or click here www.blitzfastball.com/academy.html
Academy investment
Each manager may invest credits directly into the Academy to improve specific players abilities. An Academy player can only be worked on once every two weeks, where you can directly state which player and which stat (either Tackling, Passing, Shooting or Stamina) should be improved by 1. For example, you may wish to improve player John Smith's tackling from 8 to 9, you can do so by using the 'tool' provided on your Academy page, stating the players name and 'mark' the box of the ability you wish to increase; players marked in red cannot be worked on, as they were worked on the previous week.
There is no limit to how many players you can work on each week, but remember that players cannot be worked on in consecutive weeks and only one attribute can be worked on at a time. Also, each increase will cost a certain amount of credits depending on the players age and target stat following the increase (See the table on your Academy page for costs). Increases will take place on a Friday after the Thursday games have been played, but the credits will still be removed from your account on Thursday. Please note the difference in the tables between Attribute costs (Tk, Ps, Sh) and Stamina. These prices will change from season to season to stay in-line with inflation of accounts.
17 year olds cannot be trained in a skill (Tk, Ps or Sh) above 18, whilst 18 year old players cannot be trained above level 21. Players aged 20 or 21 will also be limited in their investment limits; there is no top limit, but skills that are already below a certain limit cannot be trained using the investment procedure and can only increase naturally (please see the tables on the Academy pages).
Academy Names and Identity
Academy teams can be named differently to your 'main team', as a number of Academies will be affiliated with different teams, so Managers can name their Academy team as something different to their main team if they wish. For example, Phoenix Firebirds Academy is named as 'Wolf Dragoons' with links to Black Phoenix and Phoenix Crest (Phoenix Firebirds affiliated teams). If you wish to give your Academy a different name, then please inform the Admin.
